Nail curriculum of high technology is dictated by the State Board of Cosmetology. Some of the things you learn in school nail include:
Basic Sanitation - You will learn how to disinfect and sanitize their implements and the station to keep everything clean for customers. This stops the spread of infectious diseases and helps prevent bacterial and fungal infections of the nails, skin and feet.
Basic Manicure & Pedicure - This includes step by step instruction for the care of hands and feet. You will learn to clean the nail bed, cuticle, skin, and basic massage techniques. The techniques of nail polish are also included.
Nail enhancements - This includes the application and removal of improvements, including acrylic nails, gel nails, fiberglass, silk wraps and more. Nails are taught the basic preparation and application techniques and the application of advice and forms of sculpture. Nail filing and correct disposal improvement are included.
Client - This includes learning to detect nails and skin disorders and diseases. You will learn to analyze a customer's hands and feet and spot potential problems with your nails or skin, as well as how to determine what type of nail is recommended for them.
Basic business skills - You will learn how to deal with clients and colleagues, finding a job and how to sell so that you can build a clientele.
As you learn all this and more in a technical licensing program of the nails, most programs are geared to help pass the State Board examination. All that is required by your State Board of Cosmetology will be taught by the school. You practice taking the exam nails hands on high technology as well as the written exam. Some schools have mock exam practice on a regular basis to help you get used to perform under pressure manicure services.
